Suncoast Waterkeeper Stands Out in Giving Challenge Crowd

During the Giving Partner Challenge, presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota, from noon on Tuesday, May 1, through noon on Wednesday, May 2, donations to Suncoast Waterkeeper will be matched 1:1 by the Paterson Foundation.

Go to the Giving Partner Challenge website for more information and to make a secure donation from May 1st to May 2nd.

Check out our Giving Partner Challenge Profile for more information about Suncoast Waterkeeper.

Frequently, among the 23 other regional non-profits that list themselves as “environmental,” Suncoast Waterkeeper is all that stands as a roadblock between greedy developers and polluters, and the resources we cherish as Floridians: clean water, clean air, native habitat, and a healthy coastal ecosystem.  Healthy ecosystems support healthy people and healthy economies.  Our strategic collaboration of science, public outreach and litigation is vital to assuring that the rule of law holds corruption and political influence in check.

We are currently in court against the US Army Corps of Engineers, the City of St. Petersburg, phosphate giant Mosaic, many turtle-killing power plants, including Tampa Bay’s Big Bend, FDEP, Manatee County, and developers Pat Neal and Carlos Beruff.

And because we work in coalitions with many other groups, a donation to Suncoast Waterkeeper spreads its influence widely.

Because we keep our overhead to near-zero with volunteer administration and minimal office requirements, a contribution to Suncoast Waterkeeper is about 95% efficient, after Giving Partner’s 6% fee.  In terms of return on environmental investment, we are hard to beat!
